How much is a pinch of salt, exactly?
That's just it - no one really knows. I would have thought that there would be some official measurement recorded somewhere in Switzerland, defining an official "pinch". An international standard, if you will.
Turns out, no.
Anyway, while looking for macro photography ideas, I came up with salt. I thought it might be cool to see it a little closer.
So I put some salt on some black construction paper, and got this:
The salt is lit from a light source at the top right (which was actually my iPhone flashlight). The light bouncing off the paper and through the salt crystals gives some of them a grey appearance.
Sort of looks like snow, I guess.
But it's actually just a pinch of salt, give or take.
You may have noticed that I took a week off from this blog. Last week I was busy setting up the new and improved MarkAliPhotos.com online store. Powered by Fine Art America, and made available through Pixels.com, this site now has over 80 of my photos available for prints and other photo gifts (greeting cards, iPhone cases, etc.). Tell your friends!
